The response to this new method of 'pay as you go' car insurance cover is very muted. It is early days though.

It is primarily aimed at those on a budget like learner drivers, young drivers or students. Basically you only pay for what you use.

The scheme has been introduced after a leading insurer extensively tested the concept with 5,000 drivers dating back to 2004.

It is the first of its kind and early surveys show, as you might expect, many drivers do view it as 'big brother' watching them - and many are not ready for it yet. The scheme is monitored via a GPS system on your vehicle to track when , where and how far you drive.

The best way to save money in Brittain is to use UK 'scraper sites - you get about 40 - 60 results in about 10 minutes. See recommendations at http://www.car-insurance-for-learner-driver.com, as a good starting point.

The differences in prices are amazing - regulalry up to £1500 difference, particularly for learners and young drivers.
